Sammy Joe Gobble, 86 years old, was called home to be with our Lord, Saturday, September 24, 2016, after a courageous fight with Parkinson's disease.
Sammy was born on November 5, 1929, in Mission, Texas. Sammy graduated from Alice High School in 1946 and attended Texas A&I University.
Sammy is preceded in death by both his parents, Ira H. Gobble and Clara M. Dennis Gobble, two sons, Dale Gobble and Keith Gobble.
Sammy is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nanette Gobble and children, Gene Gobble (Rhonda), Chuck Ward, Tony Ward, Daniel (Mandy) Ward, and Lori (Joaquin) Garrison, 18 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his dog, Jack.
Sammy was a successful businessman who had a passion for the grocery business. Alongside his father, together they founded Lonestar Wholesale Groceries in Alice, Texas. Member and previous President of the Retail Grocers Association, founder and owner of Food Land in Robstown, Texas and founder and previous owner of Snappy Foods, located throughout Corpus Christi and surrounding areas, owner of Dollarville located in Corpus Christi, Texas and previous owner of Hilltop Cafe, uptown Corpus Christi, Texas.
Sammy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing golf, bowling and riding his motorcycle.
The family would like to thank Edna and Jerry Garza for excellent care and making his last days as comfortable as possible.
