The Lord called home Robert William Dazey, 83, on August 26, 2016. Robert (Bob) was born on February 6, 1933 in New Castle, Indiana to Robert and Ida Dazey. He graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1951 and was a Class Favorite all three years. He served in the Army from 1953 to 1955, followed by working at Reynolds Metals until his retirement in 1983. The need to stay busy and working with his hands led him to work in carpentry as an independent contractor where he worked on many homes and buildings in the Corpus Christi area.
He married the love of his life, Marilyn Adams, on February 12, 1954 - theirs was a love that never stopped growing. Having been friends since they were 14 years old, the two walked hand-in-hand through life raising their son and daughter and playing a vital role in raising their grandson.
Bob loved his Lord, family, friends, and church. He was a charter member of Grace Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder, but used his talents to help keep the church grounds and building in tip-top shape. Known for his physical, mental, and spiritual strength, Bob was also gentle, kindhearted, enjoyed telling jokes and stories, and remained completely devoted to his family and faith. He was humble, generous, honest, protective, loving, self-sacrificing, genuine, courageous, practical, reliable, creative, and witty. His life maximized the joys and minimized the troubles of his family and friends. He leaves a legacy of love and would consider his most important titles in life to be Child of God, Husband, Father, Brother, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, and friend. The empty space he leaves in the lives he impacted will only be filled by precious memories and the example he left behind.
His father and mother preceded him in death. He is survived by wife and counterpart Marilyn Jean Dazey, sister Lois Pauline Miller, son Randall William (Catherine) Dazey, daughter Lori Jean Dazey, grandson Robert Wayne (Lauren) Dazey, great-grandson Ryan William Dazey, nephews Kyle Miller, Ronnie Adams, and Chris Adams, nieces Kim Royalty, and Laura Vincent, and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces.
Pallbearers will be Randall William Dazey, Robert Wayne Dazey, Kyle Miller, Chris Adams, Kyle T. Miller, and Andrew Royalty.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2016 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Grace Presbyterian Church Building Fund in his honor.
