John Richard Miller, 65, passed away on August 13, 2016 at his home in Kerrville, Texas with his wife by his side. He was born July 3, 1951, in Nebraska City, Nebraska and married the love of his life, Ann Dabney Hall in Harlingen, Texas.

Even as a young boy, John knew he wanted to be a veterinarian and applied to veterinary college at the young age of 11, to be assured acceptance to the program. He later achieved his dream, by receiving the Evan's Scholarship and graduating from the University of Missouri with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1975.

Some of John's many passions were hunting, fishing, and sailing, prompting him to move to Corpus Christi, which became his new home. His belief that conservation was an important factor in the Gulf Coast, led him to become an active and proud member of GCCA and Duck's Unlimited. Through hard work and resilience, John and his wife built a successful animal hospital, Animal Medical and Surgical Hospital, where he practiced for over 30 years.

He loved learning, healing, and making people laugh, but above all, he loved his family unconditionally. John is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ann, his daughters Jennifer and Lindsay, and granddaughters Madison and Genevieve.

A Memorial Service will be held at Seaside Reid Chapel on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.
