Frances Sheldon Johnson McCabe was born on May 19, 1934, in Wink, Texas to Dee M. Johnson and Ruth R. Jette Johnson. Frances was called home on October 20, 2016, at 82 years of age, in Corpus Christi, after a prolonged illness.  Frances married Joseph Vincent McCabe on April 11, 1952. They enjoyed raising their three daughters and six sons during their thirty years of marriage.  Frances was a beloved daughter, sister, spouse, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and a dear friend to many. With a heart full of compassion, she lovingly cared for individuals as a private duty caregiver and as a home health worker. Frances was active in her church, teaching classes and helping with many charitable projects.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Joe McCabe; sons Steven Edward McCabe and Kevin Patrick McCabe; and her elder sibling, Sr. Nancy Johnson.
Frances is survived by her children: Michael (Cindy) McCabe of Corona, California, Nancy (Terry) Bell of Austin, Denise McCabe of Corpus Christi, Joanna (Dale) Hunt of Houston, David (Kristy) McCabe of Grandview, Missouri, John McCabe of Corpus Christi, and Eric (Katie) McCabe of the Houston area.  She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren: James (Valerie) Daugherty, Alex McCabe, Matt McCabe, Andrew McCabe, Kristin (Armando) Garza, Joe Dee (fiancé' Kim) McCabe, David Lee Jr. (fiancé Jeniver) McCabe, Joey (Kiersten) McCabe, Evan (fiancé' Kat) McCabe, Sam (fiancé' Becca) Hunt, Clayton McCabe, Joshua McCabe, Bryan McCabe and Adam McCabe.  Her seven great-grandchildren who survive Frances are Brock Daugherty, William, Alexa, Lillian, Gino and Jolynn McCabe and Isaiah Garza.  She is also survived by her sisters, Carol J. Polasek of Tynan, Martha (Louis) Zapata of San Antonio, Mary R. (Jim) Garcia of Austin, Susan Johnson of Corpus Christi, and brother, Christopher T. Johnson of Corpus Christi, in addition to numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Frances will be greatly missed by all those who were touched by her love.
A Rosary and Memorial Service will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2016 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
