Mrs. Corina Pedraza Zarate passed away on October 27, 2016. She was born November 21, 1942 in Corpus Christi, TX. She fought an enormous battle and her strength, energy and laughter lifted everyone around her. Her kindness and true joy for living was contagious. Although she never fulfilled her dream of becoming a nurse she brought healing and comfort to so many. She was never one to shy away from a fight and tackled every obstacle as though victory were a mere formality. She was a graduate of Roy Miller High School in Corpus Christi and, if asked, would proudly share her Buccaneer Band stories and mimic her oboe hand gestures. She was also a proud member of the Prima Deb Girls Club and loved to demonstrate the proper posture and walk necessary for such a status. Her confidence was the result of always being right and winning every fight. This morning she simply changed battlefields. She is now with her parents, Jose Pedraza and Corina Suarez Pedraza, also preceding her were her brother, Sal Pedraza; sister, Julia Pedraza Yglesias and brother-in-law, Juan Cantu Villarreal. Remaining behind to carry on the good fight and share her legacy are her husband, Rudolpho Orlando Zarate; her sons, Rudolfo Pedraza Zarate, Jr., Randy Pedraza Zarate and Rodney Pedraza Zarate; her grandchildren, Corina Michiko Villanueva Zarate, Rudolfo Villanueva Zarate III; her daughters-in-law, Jocelyn Villanueva Zarate, Veronica Macias Zarate and Rosie Perez Zarate; her sisters, Manuela Rocha and Viola Villarreal and brother, Jose Pedraza, Jr. were a constant source of love and strength for her. So many wonderful nieces, nephews, other family and friends that she loved with all of her heart also enriched her life. Her touch and laughter will be enormously missed but her energy, love and compassion will live forever. Mom's wishes were that everyone who attends services wears something red. She loves flowers and when asked if she would want people to donate to a charity in lieu of them, her response was, "I just died, why can't I have flowers, and make sure they're not yellow." Her enthusiasm will carry on! We will miss you every moment of every day mama but we know that, as promised, you will be watching our every move.
